Tom Kristensen: New Member of Rolex Family of Ambassadors

The Dane racer Tom Kristensen, the only 8 time winner of the “24 hours of Le Mans” race, has been recently invited by the official retailer of reputable watchmaking brand Rolex - Klarlund to become the ambassador of the legendary brand.

The leaders of the company approved this candidate nominated by the company’s long-time commercial partner. During the event dedicated to this event Stig Andersen, the representative of Klarlund, told the journalists from Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland: “We are not only proud of Tom Kristensen’s victories, but also of being the organizers of this remarkable event!”
The new ambassador of Rolex was presented with the Rolex Daytona Everose timepiece and Milgauss equipped with the sapphire crystal of green colour.

Vintage Rolex Black Limited Edition

Rolex Opens Learning Center in Lausanne

On Febryary 22, 2010, the legendary Swiss watchmaking company Rolex has opened a new Rolex Learning Center in Lausanne. The large scale of the project is accentuated by the surrealistic building of the new center designed by a Japanese bureau SANAA.

The learning center is located on the territory of the EPFL University (Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) and together with rooms for classes includes a library and a laboratory for students. The new building also houses the CRAFT – a research center of learning technology under the EPFL that is engaged in development of vanguard methods of teaching and learning.
The first thing that attracts attention in the new Rolex Learning Centre is its amazing library. It boasts of the of the largest collections of academic editions in Europe – about 500,000 works among which there are antique editions written by Newton and Galileo in the 16th century.
The new Rolex Learning Centre is designed not only for studies and academic discussions but also for pleasant pastime with friends. It was designed as a place creating comfortable atmosphere for communication and social contacts. There are little inner courts for studies in the open air, patios for rest, restaurants and cafes located at the terrace facing Lake Geneva and the Alps.

The Porsche Family Watches to Be Sold at Charity Auction

At the charity auction that will take place on December 2, 2009, the Porsche family are going to put up for sale 50 timepieces from the family collection. The money achieved during the auction organized by an English auction house Bonhams will be given to the oncology department of the Robert Bosch hospital in Stuttgart. The organizers believe that the timepieces will achieve about £100,000.

The auction collection includes watches by such brands as Eterna, Porsche Design, Rolex, Panerai, Eberhard, Jaeger LeCoultre, Breitling, Chronoswiss and Omega. The highlights of the future auction are going to be the Rolex Explorer watch with ivory-white dial, a series of rare Panerai watches and a Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris timepiece of 1960.
