Horological Machine No4 Thunderbolt
June 23, 2010
After the creation and presentation of the ultimate Frog timepiece the talented designers from the MB&F have claimed that they are ready to present one more novelty featuring even more original and radical design. The movement of the Horological Machine No4 Thunderbolt was presented to public in March 2010 during the fair in Basel. According to watchmakers from MB&F it took them 3 years to develop the movement comprising 311 parts among which there are developed and created specially for this model balance wheel and hair spring.

It seems that after creation of such super complicated watches as Horological Machine No2 housed by the case consisting of more that 100 parts or Horological Machine No3 with 3-D cones it will be rather difficult for the company to amaze the watchmaking community again. At the same time the horological masterpieces created by the specialists from the MB&F team serve as a perfect evidence of their talent, imagination and innovative approach to creation of watches. The representatives of MB&F said that the more detailed information about the novelty will be published on July 7, 2010. Now we can offer to you to have a look at the first drafts of the HM4 movement.

MB&F Presents New Frog Watch
May 6, 2010
Maximillian Busser and his friends are proud to present their new Horological Machine number 3 - the Frog watch. And indeed the new timepiece looks like a little frog – the time is indicated inside the salient sapphire crystal and aluminium hemispheres that remind of the eyes of a frog. Such a design of the dial allows seeing the time without turning the wrist from any point. In comparison with other – precedent – models of the Horological Machine No3, the Frog boasts rotary hemispheres while the earlier models had fixed cones round which the hours and the minutes hands were sweeping.

The hemispheres of the Frog make a full turn in 12 hours while the hands of the previous Horological machine ran round the cones in 24 hours.
The owner of the new MB&F Frog watch can watch the work of the rotor of the automatic winding which looks like a firearm and is made of gold. The work of the whole movement is also visible.
The HM3 Frog is housed by a titanium case (Grade 5). The brand is going to produce only 12 copies of the Frog timepiece housed by a titanium case covered with black treatment and completed with green rotor.

MB&F Horological Machine No. 2 Sapphire Vision
January 15, 2010
The already legendary watchmaker Max Busser and his friends present a new version of their icon timepiece - Horological Machine No. 2. The new watch - Sapphire Vision – impresses the watch amateurs by the usage of sapphire crystal as a basic material for the case.

In spite of the fact that sapphire crystal is a rather traditional material for watchmaking the specialists from MB&F spend many hours to create the glass of the needed form and size to serve as a case. The sapphire crystal case is 3.6 mm thick. Sapphire’s hardness is second only to diamond, which makes the whole top half of the case extremely scratch-resistant. Water resistance of the new watch is 30 meters.
The new Horological Machine is powered by the HM2-SV movement that has been developed by master watchmaker J.M Wiederrecht. The movement features an instantaneous jump hour, concentric retrograde minutes, retrograde date and a bi-hemisphere moon phase. The movement is based on 44 jewels and is beating at 28,800 bph.
The watch is accompanied with a black hand-stitched alligator strap with an 18k white gold and titanium folding buckle. The new Horological Machine is produced in a limited edition of 25 pieces.

MB&F Charity Timepiece HM2 for the Only Watch Event
June 3, 2009
At the forthcoming Only Watch charity auction which is going to be held in Monaco on September 24, 2009, under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II Max Busser & Friends together with the artist Sage Vaughn are going to present a unique timepiece which will help to contribute to the battle to save children from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Maximilian Busser commented on his participation in the project: “At my age (he is 42), if I contract a serious illness I can say that I have already lived a full life, but for a child just starting out, it is a tragedy”. Whilst he would never claim to understand the suffering of a child with this disease, childhood holds a special importance for the watchmaker.
The auction timepiece is a new one-of-the-kind version of MB&F latest Horological Machine No2, one of the most complicated timepieces ever created. The timepiece is first of all notable for a tiny butterfly trapped in the movement. And it has no hope of escaping, because the complicated movement is wrapped in barbed wire.

When Busser and his team were offered to participate in the Only Watch event they decided that their timepiece should convey some emotions. And immediately they faced a task to solve: how a timepiece can express the beauty and vulnerability of childhood, and the struggle of a young child for his or her own life? And the solution was found in cooperation with the American artist – Sage Vaughn.
In the result of their creative cooperation a really emotional timepiece was born. The entire upper face of the watch - the surface of the rectangular case and the two projecting portholes - is crafted in sapphire crystal, revealing the HM2’s complex movement. The hundreds of minute components display the meticulous hand finish that is MB&F’s hallmark. But they are imprisoned in barbed wire. A blue butterfly struggles to escape from the same fate, but its wings are clipped. The barbed wire is handcrafted in blackened gold and the butterfly in blued gold.

BaselWorld 2009: Day 2
March 28, 2009
BaselWolrd Watch and Jewellery Show 2009 in Switzerland is at full swing now. Watchmaking brands and companies continue to present their best novelties of the year to the visitors and exchange news and experience with their colleagues. Here is the main news of the second day of the most important watchmakers’ forum.
Timekeeping Masterpieces
As usual Maximilian Busser, the founder of MB&F, continues to amaze visitors of the fair with his original and really impressive “horological machines”. By now the brand has three 100-piece limited edition collections of watches that are notable for unique case design and highly advanced movements equipped with numerous complications. The brand debuted at the Basel show in 2007 with its HM1 and now it presents a modified version of the legendary timepiece. At the BaselWorld 2009 MB&F also presents new variants of its famous HM2 and HM3.
The well-known Germany-based watchmaker Chronoswiss enters a new level of mastery this year with its first timepiece – the Sauterelle - equipped with the in-house manufactory movement. The timepieces from this series feature an inscription at the dial that proudly informs that the calibre is Germany-made. The new Cronoswiss watch measures 44 mm in diameter and comes as a classic three-hand timepiece as well as a regulator - which Chronoswiss is well known for.

De Grisogono, who last year managed to impress everybody with its Meccanico timepiece, this year presents two novelties for gentlemen. The first - the Fuso Quadrato watch - is a large square timepiece with soft corners whose two dials boast the indication of time in two time zones. The main peculiarity of the design is the placement of the dials which are separated by a diaphragm device, similar to an iris – you can shift a slide along the case side to open the diaphragm, revealing the second time zone. The second novelty by de Grisogono is a new version of Instrumento Grande Date which was modified with a dial revealing the entirety of the two discs that form the big date.
What about Fashion?
The world leaders in fashion industry have also presented their new timepiece collections. They say that the novelties of this category successfully combine main trends of the catwalk with the latest technologies of watchmaking.
The renowned fashion brand Hermes has replenished its Arceau series of watches. The real gem of the new line is a Chrono Alezan watch featuring beautiful combinations of luxurious leather straps with a few dial details in brilliant orange. Two more eye-catching novelties by Hermes are an 18K white gold skeletonized Arceau timepiece and the Dressage model with a perpetual calendar.
Versace which has always been an icon of fashion world also introduces some new timepieces to its collections. Its new Eon watch line for ladies is a real embodiment of style and femininity. The new watch features round rings outside the watch’s bezel that playfully rotate to reveal the Versace logo on one side. As for gentlemen timepieces the renowned brand has revealed its new V-Master collection of sophisticated sports watches housed in an asymmetrical oval case.
Another Italian symbol of fashion and elegance – the house of Valentino – has presented a collection of timepieces developed together with the Timex . Valentino modified its Seduction timepiece, a watch with a wide oval case that debuted last year, to a “Plisse” version that features a bracelet of steel mesh which so soft that seems to be made of chiffon.
To celebrate the anniversary of its Vivianna Bangle watch the Danish designer Georg Jensen manufactured a special edition of 40 pieces of the original design – without numerals and minute and hour hands at the mirror-dial. The only thing that traces the time is second hand.
