Longines Ambassadress at the Royal Ascot
June 22, 2010
This year the renowned watchmaking brand Longines has the honour to be the official timekeeper of the legendary Royal Ascot races for the forth time. The Asian star Chi Ling Lin, one the Ambassadress of Elegance of the Swiss watchmaking brand, has become the guest of the glamorous event. Chi Ling Lin became famous in Asia as a model and television presenter before moving into acting. She attended Royal Ascot on Tuesday 15th June and was able to admire both the famous racecourse and the new ladies’ models in the Longines PrimaLuna collection.

Royal Ascot week is considered to be one of the most prestigious sporting events of all time, combining tradition and high performance for almost 300 years. It was Queen Anne who understood the potential of horse-racing at Ascot and the first race, the Queen Anne Stakes, was held there on 11 August 1711. Longines has been the official timekeeper at the Ascot races since 2007 and has recently signed a contract for a further three years.
But Royal Ascot is not only a prestigious competition – it is also an original fashion show. This year the Royal Ascot Fashion Show took place before the races which showcased the talented British fashion designers Vivienne Westwood, Stephen Jones, Amanda Wakeley, Matthew Williamson and Gieves & Hawkes.
Chi Ling Lin said that she was fascinated by the event. The Asian star was kind enough to grant many interviews with journalists and pose for photographers from all around the world. And in the evening during the gala dinner Chi Ling Lin presented the new ladies’ models in the Longines PrimaLuna collection. The new star of the collection, however, was the Thousand and One Nights model that combines the brilliance of steel with the subtle warmth of rose gold.

Longines Presents Two Chronographs
March 5, 2010
The BaselWorld 2010 is nearer and nearer. And the watchmakers continue to introduce their novelties. This year the citadel of elegance – the Swiss watchmaking brand Longines – is going to delight its customers and all lovers of classics and sports with two classical chronographs - Longines Column-Wheel and Longines Column-Wheel Sports. Both watches are powered with the in-house movement L688.2 equipped with column wheel that was introduced by the company in 2009. The movement guarantees 54 hours of power reserve.

The classical Longines Column-Wheel chronograph is housed by a 39-mm case crafted from 18K rose gold or from steel while its sportive “brother” features a 41-mm steel case. The dials of both watches are protected with sapphire crystal. And water resistance has been improved – now the timepiece are resistant to water pressure down to 100 meters.

Longines PrimaLuna
February 24, 2010
The last five years the policy of the watchmaking brand Longines was aimed at what the CEO of the company Walter von Kaenel called “a comeback to origins” namely creation of collections of sportive chronographs and classical male models equipped with complicated movements. As a result the new image of Longines became to overshadow the reputation of the brands as the citadel of elegance, especially given the fact that female novelties appeared only in the vintage jewellery watch collection Les Elegantes.

That’s why recently Longines has taken a wise decision to create a new stylish and trendy watch for ladies in order not to delight the female part of the brand’s aficionados and support the image and reputation of the most elegant watchmaking brand. The new timepiece presented by Longines is the PrimaLuna – a stylish female timepiece inspired by the beauty of the Moon.
The European debut of the new female PrimaLuna collection took place in Autumn 2009.In spite of the word “Luna” in the name the watch doesn’t deal with the Moon phase indication – the celestial body served only as the source of inspiration for the brand new design of the collection. Not a single one model form the new Longines collection features sharp angles – there are only smooth lines and feminine curves.
The classical round case crafted from rose gold and measuring 30 mm in diameter looks perfect on a lady’s wrist. 48 diamonds shine like stars at the polished rant of the watch and serve as a perfect frame for the white mother-of-pearl dial and thin hands. The most refined version of the PrimaLuna is decorated with 11 more diamonds that serve as hour markers. A more practical and modest model features 11 stylized Arabic numerals.
The watch is accompanied with a thoroughly polished brose gold bracelet equipped with a reliable folding clasp.
The new Longines watch is powered by an automatic calibre L595 based on the ЕТА 2000/1 known as one of the smallest self-winding calibres that is usually installed in the jewellery watches by the most prestigious brands.
So, the new PrimaLuna collection corresponds to the best traditions of Longines – minimalism, elegance and contemporary technology. The new dazzling collection of watches is presented by the Longines’ ambassador of elegance Aishwarya Rai, Indian actress and model.

Longines Opens a New Store in Hanoi
January 12, 2010
The biggest watchmaking companies continue to conquer Asian market. The most prestigious brands open more stores in the biggest Asian cities: little boutiques are replaced by modern monobrand watch stores whose design allows feeling the spirit of the brand. The biggest boutique of Longines (153 square meters) has been opened recently in one of the biggest cities of Asia – Hanoi. The boutique offers the customers a wide selection of the brand’s most popular watches as well as new collections.

The boutique occupies two floors. Its design is based on contrasts: the show cases with acute angles “grow” in the middle of the room with white rounded walls. The traditional brown colour of shelves stands out against the background of light surroundings.
On the second floor there is a comfortable VIP Lounge where watch amateurs can learn about any stage of the company’s development during 177 years of its existence from the books about Longines or from a video clip.
