This is one of the iconic Daniel Roth models: a Tourbillon endowed with an exceptional 200-hour power reserve, equivalent to over 8 days’ autonomy, first launched in 2002.
8-Day Tourbillon features the case that pivots on its axis at 12 o’clock, allowing to admire another dial displaying the date and power-reserve indicator. The case back may be decorated with a precious decorative, engraved or gem-set motif. The watch is based on the Daniel Roth caliber 720.
Each case metal is presented with a different colored sapphire dial, brown for the rose gold, and grey for the white gold case. The dial is actually composed of two levels, an outer track with applied Roman numerals, and an inner track, separated by a hand-finished, solid gold chapter ring.
Just under 12 o’clock there is an aperture which displays the accumulated power reserve of the watch. The highlight of the dial side is the tourbillon. It is located in an open area on a base decorated with a fine hobnail pattern, held up by a rounded and black polished bridge. Being a one minute tourbillon, it also acts as the second hand; Daniel Roth’s signature three-armed seconds hand is individual blued over a flame.
The reverse of the watch contains the calendar display: day, date, month, moon phase and leap year. Like in other perpetual calendars designed by Daniel Roth, the moon is depicted in a life-like manner, with craters and all.
Like the dial side, the base plate of the reverse is decorated with a fine perlage. The perlage on the dial side is only visible at certain angles, due to the tinted sapphire dial.
