One of the oldest residents of the Place Vandome in Paris whose first boutique there was opened in the distant 1893 – the jewellery and watchmaking company Boucheron – made a triumphant come back to BaselWorld this year showing to the visitors the precious gems of its collection which were previously available only to chosen ones.

Among these gems was jewellery collection of Bestiary Seconde Folle (crazy seconds) timepieces. The collection owes its name to the fact that instead of the traditional seconds hand at the dial there is a rotary disk looking as an eye of one of the three animals from the “bestiary� – chameleon, frog and owl.

The watch is equipped with a custom made Girard-Perregaux movement calibre GP 4000 with seconds disk module at 7 o’clock.

In fact moving eyes are just an ironic animation which accentuates the magnificent jewellery craft of Boucheron which managed to inhabit the 42-mm white gold case a real diamond, emerald and aventurine owl (total number of precious stones – 338).

The jewellery and watchmaking house of Boucheron celebrated its 150th anniversary with launching a truly luxurious and ultimately modern accessory – Vertu mobile phone in gold.

The most interesting thing about the luxurious novelty Vertu Boucheron 150 is its design: the phone is made up of golden polyhedrons which remind the widely recognizable style of Boucheron jewellery. The designers believe that they managed to find an ideal combination of Vertu’s charismatic design and nobility and heritage of Boucheron.

All golden parts of the phone are manually made of separate gold bullions. It took 1000 hours to make the facets, 700 hours – to polish them and 500 hours more to assembly. Each button of the new mobile phone is decorated with a sapphire.

Specially for Vertu Boucheron 150 the company Noce Pedullo has made a special box of walnut which is equipped with a music mechanism by Reuge. There is no information about the price yet.

Vertu is an affiliate of Nokia established in 1998. The company engages itself into production and sale of luxury mobile phones. The most expensive model ever made by Vertu is Boucheron Cobra priced at 320,000 Euro.

The French watchmaking and jewellery house of Boucheron and its parent company PPR celebrate the launch of the movie “Home” (for which PPR is the exclusive worldwide partner) with an online auction event which aims at raising funds for “The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance“. The other aim of the auction is to promote and verify more responsible mining practices for gold and other metals.

In his film “Home� Yann Arthus-Bertrand, an internationally recognized photographer and writer, takes the viewers on a fascinating and original journey all around the planet. Contemplating its beauty through the eyes of the filmmaker, we learn about the treasures Earth offers and marks we leave behind. The worldwide release of the movie will be organized by EuropaCorp on June 5th, 2009 – the World Environment Day - in cinemas, on television, on DVD and on the Internet around the world.

For the auction the brand of Boucheron has especially created The Magnetic Quatre - a unique combination of four types of gold. The combination of different types of gold and textures of this unique product are symbols of our planet’s four basic elements: wood, air, water and earth and reminds us of their fragile balance. The Magnetic Quatre will be auctioned off on eBay.fr on June 6th to June 13th. The online auction will be accessible through the brand’s official website - www.boucheron.com. All the proceeds will go to “The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance“.
