Blancpain Villeret Moon Phase“Re-imagined”

During the forthcoming BaselWorld 2010 Watch and Jewellery Show the renowned Swiss watchmaker Blancpain is going to celebrate its 275th anniversary. To mark this event the company has produced a new version of the Villeret Collection of timepieces that will début at the fair. The first Villeret timepiece to be unveiled is a new complete calendar moon-phase watch with a fully secure calendar mechanism and under-lug correctors, fitted into a half-hunter red gold case.
The new Blancpain Villeret watch boasts a really classical design as well as impressive complications of the Blancpain exclusive in-house movement that features balance frequency of 28,800 bph. The movement also boasts an antimagnetic index assembly and two barrels providing 72 hours of power reserve.
To facilitate setting of the indications, Blancpain has equipped the new Villeret timepiece with its patented under-lug correctors. This not only leaves the sides of the watches with a remarkably pure finish, unmarred by the presence of adjusters, but also means that changes can be accomplished with one’s finger tips instead of requiring a dedicated tool.
The new Villeret watch by Blancpain is housed by a luxurious 40-mm case crafted from red gold. The opaline dial shows appliqué golden Roman numerals, the moon phase indicator at 6 o’clock and day and month indication aperture at 12 0’clock. The date is shown by an original blue curved hand that flies round the dial. The new watch goes together with an elegant brown crocodile leather strap.

Blancpain Carrousel Volant Une Minute

Having created Carrousel Volant Une Minute watch the watchmaker Blancpain again stimulated new wave of discussions in watchmaking circles. Watchmakers can’t come to a unanimous answer about what is tourbillon and what is carrousel and what’s the difference between them.
Blancpain Carrousel Volant Une Minute watch shows at 12 o’clock at the dial a carrousel module which outwardly is very similar to a tourbillon: the same flying carriage makes 1 turn in a minute and features balance frequency of 21,600 bph.
But the craftsmen from Les Brassus call the module a “carrousel” because while a traditional tourbillon actually makes part of a column gear with a certain rotation speed the carrousel crafted by watchmakers from Blancpain is connected with an additional wheel gear which sets its speed of rotation.
The first carrousel was invented by Bane Bonniksen in 1892. His carrousel was rotating at a speed of 1 turn in 27 minutes or 1 turn in 42 minutes.
An additional gear in the newest Calibre 225 which powers the watch acts as a differential as modern craftsmen managed to increase the speed of rotation to 1 turn in one minute. The movement is also equipped with an autowinding module and boasts 100 hours of power reserve and calendar function.
The new Blancpain Carrousel Volant Une Minute is housed by a platinum case measuring 43.5 mm in diameter. The back case is equipped with a see-through sapphire crystal aperture that allows admiring an exquisitely finished movement. The dial of the new Blancpain watch features several layers with a remarkable 3-D effect. Water resistance is 100 meters.

CEO Blancpain Pilots Sports Car at Lamborghini Super Trofeo

After the forth stage of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series Marc Hayek - the head of Blancpain and a pilot- and his team have managed to win the leadership on the competition.
The racing series was revived with the help of Blancpain as official sponsor and partner. Specially for the competition Lamborghini created 30 Gallardo LP570 PS super-cars with top speed of over 300 km/h. The bolide is created on the basis of a Lambo Gallardo LP 560-4 sports car. Following the example of its partner Blancpain also created a limited edition collection of flyback-chronographs Blancpain Super Trofeo Chronograph to celebrate the revival of the racing event.
The new timepiece housed by a 43.5-mm DLC-coated waterproof steel case was designed by leaders of Blancpain and Lamborghini – Marc Hayek and Stefan Winkelmann. On the whole the design of the watch is very similar to the design of the super-car. The timepiece is powered by an automatic movement Calibre F185 providing 40 hours of power reserve.

Blancpain L-Evolution Tourbillon GMT

Recently the L-evolution collection of complicated timepieces by Blancpain has been replenished by a new model which has every right to be called a masterpiece of horology. The new L-evolution Tourbillon GMT not only combines two complications in one movement but also features outstanding elegant design. The new L-evolution watch makes a wonderful addition to the collection.
The new Blancpain watch is housed by a sporty-looking 43.5-mm case made of 18K white or red gold. The case is notable not only for fine polishing but also for an innovative design: rapidly detachable lugs allow changing a strap or a bracelet easily. The timepiece is 100-meter water-resistant.
The new Blancpain watch is especially notable for its multi-level dial. The central base-plate of the dial is decorated with Cotes de Geneve. At 12 o’clock there is an aperture revealing the mechanical beauty of the flying tourbillon. At 3 and 6 o’clock there are oversized luminous Arabic numerals. The date indicated by a double hand is observed at 9 o’clock. The second time zone indicated by a red-tipped hand is placed at the center of the dial while 24-hour scale frames it.
The L-evolution Tourbillon GMT houses a new in-house self-winding Calibre 5025. The movement provides 8 days of power reserve and features perfect finishing with bevelled bridges and polished details.
The Blancpain novelty goes together with an alligator leather strap equipped with a triple-blade folding clasp. The L-evolution Tourbillon GMT is produced in a limited edition of 99 copies for each version.
