The first advertising campaign featuring Andy Garcia is dedicated to the Baume & Mercier Classima Exclusives XL collection of timepieces.

Moreover Andy Garcia will become the 2010 ambassador for Baume & Mercier’s charity initiative. The Baume & Mercier & Me campaign, launched in 2005, features Garcia modeling a piece from its range, and pledges to donate all royalties that would usually go to the celebrity face and campaign photographer to the charities of their choice. Garcia and the ad’s photographer Greg Gorman have requested that their fees be donated to organizations working in the fields of cancer research, child education, helping underprivileged women and the fight against poverty.

The new Baume & Mercier watch is powered by a Swiss ETA movement calibre Valjoux 7751. Among the complications there are chronograph and complete calendar with the moon phase indication. The rotor of the movement is decorated with the Cotes de Geneve pattern while the screws are crafted from blued steel. The case back of the new timepiece is equipped with a see-through aperture protected with sapphire crystal.

The new Baume & Mercier watch is housed by a 42-mm polished steel case. The silvery dial is guilloched in Grain d’orge style. One of the eye-catching elements of the dial is the date hand made of 18K rose gold.

The elegant chronograph will certainly be appreciated by lovers of classics especially if take into account all the useful functions of the new chronograph.

The timepiece is notable for the complete calendar shown at the dial. Some specialists believe that complete calendar is more useful that the prestigious perpetual calendar. But as five months of the year consist of 30 days the owner of the watch will have to manually correct the date (the date indices are placed at the outer edge of the dial).

At 6 o’clock there is the moon phase indicator while at 12 o’clock there is the 30-seconds chronograph counter. At the same place there is the day and month aperture. 9 o’clock shows the 24-hours counter. The dial is protected with sapphire crystal. Water resistance is 30 meters.

The new Baume & Mercier watch is accompanied with a black alligator leather strap.

The representatives of the company say that reason for that is strategic disagreement with the owner of the brand – the luxury group Compagnie Financière Richemont SA.

Mr. Allen Zimmermann has been appointed new CEO Baume & Mercier. Before that appointment Mr. Zimmermann worked as head of marketing department of IWC. He also was engaged in marketing of the Julius Bär bank and worked in Cartier.

Famous American actors Evangeline Lilly (the “Lost”) and David Duchovny (the”X-Files“) are going to take part in the company’s 4th advertising campaign entitled “Baume & Mercier & Me” as Baume & Mercier ambassadors 2009.

The advertising campaign starts worldwide in April 2009. So Evangeline Lilly and David Duchovny are joining the company of celebrities who represented the brand the world over in previous years - Meg Ryan and Kiefer Sutherland (2006), Kim Basinger and Gary Sinise (2007), Teri Hatcher and Ashton Kutcher in 2008.

As the representatives of the company claim the future advertising campaign is going to contribute a lot to charity. Evangeline Lilly and David Duchovny representing Baume & Mercier brand in order to join it in supporting charity projects. All royalties for the two celebrities, as well as those of photographers Michael O’Neill and Markus Klinko & Indrani who shot their portraits, are donated to charities selected in cooperation with Evangeline Lilly and David Duchovny. The causes supported by this campaign include cancer research, child education, helping underprivileged women and the struggle against poverty.
