Alain Silberstein Marine Smileday Bronze
May 24, 2010
Unfortunately not always brown watches look elegant enough. But, to our delight, this is not about the new Marine Smileday Bronze watch created by the reputable watchmaker Alain Silberstein famous for his original ideas and eye-catching horological masterpieces. The new watch is far from looking plain owing to the bright elements decorating the dial that makes everyone who looks at it smile.

The new watch smile too: a little cute smile sign is located near the date aperture. The new Alain Silberstein watch’s attractive looks are completed with amusing hands of red, blue and yellow as well as the “dancing” terracotta sea stars. Round the dark brown bezel there are contrast insertions of white and yellow colours and the crown is decorated by the big red triangle. In one word, in spite of a quite big case, the timepiece looks funny and lively and original – such a watch can always brighten the spirits of its owner.
The new Alain Silberstein watch is powered by a self-winding movement animating the functions of hours, minutes and seconds as well as the function of the date indication. It is accommodates by a 45-mm case accompanied by a rubber strap. The new watch is produced in a limited edition of 999 copies. The price makes up circa $ 4922.

Horological Machine No2: New Version
October 28, 2009
The renowned watchmaker Maximillian Busser from MB&F has presented a new version of his famous Horological Machine No2 which was created in cooperation with one more famous and reputable watchmaker and designer Alain Silbestein. Maximillian Busser tells about the creation of Horological Machine No2.2: “I just gave Alain the watch and said “Enjoy it!” And he addled me completely when he presented a little black box instead of something boasting the brightest colours”. In his turn Alain Silberstein explains: “In fact when I saw the original design of the Horological Machine No2 case it immediately occurred to me that it looks like a miniature box-type cameras of the 1940s. And the apertures reminded me of lenses. I decided to create new individuality for this timepiece combining user-friendliness of those cameras with the discipline and reliability of a Bauhaus movement”.

Deep black colour of the case is created owing to the fact that titanium is coated with PVD treatment with silicon. As a result the colour becomes very rich and the surface is protected from fingerprints. The special accent is created with the help of two red enamel lines at the sides of the case that match perfectly the colour of markers at the two dials.
The right dial of the new MB&F watch boasts jumping-hour indication as well as retrograde minutes. The left one shows retrograde date and the moon phase indicator. All red surfaces of the watch are covered with Superluminova and are easily read even in the darkness.
The two watchmakers enjoyed their partnership immensely which Alain Silberstein stated in a small inscription engraved at the lower part of the case: le vrai bonheur est d’avoir sa passion pour métier (“True happiness is when your passion is your profession”).
