One of the latest novelties by the renowned watchmaker Ulysse Nardin deserves a closer attention of collectors and watch amateurs. The Shtandart Limited Edition watch from the Imperial St.Petersburg collection pays tribute to the history of Russian Imperial fleet. The luxurious dial is made with the help of the unique technique of plique-a-jour and shows a magnificent picture of symbols of Imperial St. Petersburg –Saint Isaac’s Cathedral and the Admiralty. But even a more spectacular view is offered by the dial showing the “Shtandart” – the ship that up to nowadays remains one of the main symbols of Russian Imperial fleet.

It is known that the “Shtandart” was the first ship of the Baltic fleet created under the order of Peter I in 1703. The significance of this ship for Russian history is really great as is was “Shtandart” that opened a new trade way from Russia through the Baltic sea and that sailed under the Russian flag up to the revolution in 1917.

The dial of the new Ulysse Nardin watch is notable for the amazing craftsmanship: in order to create an enamel picture on the dial the watchmakers use more than 500 mm of the thinnest golden wire. It takes more than 50 hours of laborious work that includes 26 operations.
The new Ulysse Nardin watch is produced in a limited edition of 30 copies. The novelty is housed by an 18К rose gold case measuring 40 mm in diameter. Water resistance equals to 50 meters. The dial is shielded with anti-reflection sapphire crystal. The back case is equipped with sapphire crystal too.
The heart of the watch is the COSC certified automatic calibre UN13, 11 ½’’ that guarantees 42 hours of power reserve. The movement animates the functions of hours, minutes and seconds.
The novelty by Ulysse Nardin goes with a crocodile leather strap fitted with n 18K rose gold clasp.
By the way the box for the new magnificent watch by Ulysse Nardin is of practically equal value with the watch itself. The box looks like a jewellery Faberge Egg of the Tsars coated with several layers of white transparent enamel and embellished with diamonds. The symbol of Ulysse Nardin – an anchor – connects the egg with the base made of white marble.
So we can say for sure that both the timepiece and the box make real masterpieces of watchmaking and jewellery art that are worthy to take a place of honour in the collections of real connoisseurs.
