Oblique Clock: New Creation by Tristan Zimmermann

The famous designer Tristan Zimmermann challenged the traditional idea of an interior clock that statically counts the minutes. His new creation is a unique timepiece that will never seem boring or static to its owner.

The new Oblique Clock, that is called by the designer an object of art, boasts unique hands whose structure allows the clock to change its shape and appearance every minute.

The movements of the seconds hand changes the appearance of the whole clock. According to Tristan Zimmermann this should reflect the unstable character of the very notion of time. The Oblique Clock is the product of observation and playful experimentation. There was however an investigative theme song which influenced this project.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Presents Stylish Desk Clocks

The renowned watchmaking company Jaeger-LeCoultre has recently presented two novelties to replenish its line of stylish interior timepieces. The first is a transparent Atmos 566 clock created by an Austrian designer Marc Newson. The clock is powered by a new movement designed by the craftsmen from Jaeger-LeCoultre - calibre 566 – that is seen trough the transparent minimalist case made of Baccara crystal. The clock can make any interior unique due to the fact that it is produced in a limited series of 48 copies. The clock is also available in the case in blue crystal: this version is limited to 28 pieces.

The other novelty by Jaeger-LeCoultre also belongs to the Atmos collection. The clock is a new variant of the historic Jaeger-LeCoultre 1930 clock: this fact is reflected in the name of the timepiece - Atmos Réédition 1930. The retro-clock is dedicated to its creator Jean-Leon Reutter and boasts amazing harmony of lines and combination of air and steel. The clock is produced in a limited edition of 300 pieces.

Swiza is Taken Over Again

Mecap Holding S.A. has announced the purchase of the clock and watch manufacturer Swiza S.A. Previously the company was owned by the company Bedonia Holding S.A. Swiza engages itself in production of interior clocks and alarm-clocks under the brands of Swiza, Matthew Norman and l’Epee.

Mr. Nicolas Arnaud has been appointed new Managing Director of Swiza. And the presidency is to be taken over by Mr. Sébastien Mérillat. Mr. Giani Dal Busco remains Technical and Production Director while Mr. Pierre Schwab is retiring after 40 years in the service of Swiza S.A.

Swiza clocks and watchmaking company was established in 1904. In taking over Swiza S.A., Mecap Holding S.A, which is active in the fields of mechanical engineering, distribution and horology, is acquiring more than a century of horological expertise. The take-over of Swiza’s activities by the Mecap S.A. holding group, which is solidly implanted within the industrial fabric of the Jura region, corresponds to the latter’s wish to reinforce its watchmaking division.

Click Clock: New Interior Gadget

Designers continue to gladden us with new interesting interior clocks which serve not only as a time-telling devices but also original details of interior design. This time we present you the Click Clock – the timekeeping gadget developed and created by a group of designers from Sweden “Humans Since 1982”.

The clock is noticeable first of all for its structure: it consists of 24 quite big in size square desk clocks whose minute and hour hands form the numerals which indicate the current time.

To make the indication of correct time possible the hands should stand only perpendicularly – indicating 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. That’s why while changing the minute indication the third and the fourth columns of clocks rotate the hands with frantic speed. It’s interesting that to show 10, 11 and 12 o’clock only 3 columns of clocks are needed while the total number of columns is four. And since the hands of the fourth clock column can not be switched off the designers offered an interesting solution – they “hide” the hand in position of 7 hours 37 minutes.
