The famous Hollywood actor Andy Garcia has been announced a new ambassador of the renowned and reputable watchmaking brand Baume & Mercier.

The famous actor joined the family of the brand’s ambassadors that already includes such celebrities as Teri Hatcher, Ashton Kutcher and Kim Basinger.

The first advertising campaign featuring Andy Garcia is dedicated to the Baume & Mercier Classima Exclusives XL collection of timepieces.

Moreover Andy Garcia will become the 2010 ambassador for Baume & Mercier’s charity initiative. The Baume & Mercier & Me campaign, launched in 2005, features Garcia modeling a piece from its range, and pledges to donate all royalties that would usually go to the celebrity face and campaign photographer to the charities of their choice. Garcia and the ad’s photographer Greg Gorman have requested that their fees be donated to organizations working in the fields of cancer research, child education, helping underprivileged women and the fight against poverty.

Recently the representatives of Chanel have proudly announced an outstanding American director Martin Scorsese to become the director of the new Chanel advertising mini-film dedicated to the brand’s new fragrance for men. Martin Scorsese is one of America’s most distinguished Oscar-bearing directors famous all over the world for his works as the Taxi Driver, the Departed, Casino and Aviator.

The new Chanel commercial will star Gaspard Ulliel, a young promising French actor, who is the new face of Chanel and a new member of its family of ambassadors. The launch of the Chanel new advertising campaign is planned for September 2010.

Andrea d’Avack president of Chanel Fragrance and Beauté invoked the French notion of “supplément d’âme” (an intangible quality which literally translates as supplement of soul) to explain their constant policy to recruit great movie directors to film their perfume commercials: “Chanel has a tradition several decades long of working with the most prominent movie directors in the world. To work with Martin Scorsese, who is one of the best, if not the best movie director alive today, is a privilege Chanel has been seeking for quite some time. Chanel works with movie directors because they bring depth, emotion and what we call in French ‘a supplement of soul, or an added dimension.â€�

The supermodel and ambassador of Omega Cindy Crawford has visited Vancouver this weekend to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day at the party organized by the watchmaking brand in its boutique at the Fairmont Hotel. The party was held to coincide with the 21st Winter Olympic in the city.

Cindy Crawford commented: “The atmosphere here in Vancouver is really unique. People in Vancouver and Wistler worked really hard to make these Olympic Games perfect. It’s amazing to be here�.

The Omega boutique in Vancouver has a multilingual staff that includes a watchmaker who will have a fully-outfitted bench in the boutique, allowing visitors to see how horologists do their detailed, precision work. The Vancouver boutique is one of just four exclusive Omega boutiques in North America. The other three are located in Beverley Hills, Mexico City and New York City.

The family of outstanding star ambassadors of the legendary watchmaking brand Omega has recently been joined by a new member – the well-known American speed skater and a three-times Olympic champion Apolo Anton Ohno. American speed skating star added to his Olympic medal total when he claimed silver in the 1500-metre short track event at Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

During the Olympic Games in Vancouver Apolo Anto Ohno is wearing Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Olympic Timeless. The skater commented: “In my sport, where the difference between a gold, silver and bronze medal comes down to 1/1000 of a second, Omega’s cutting-edge timekeeping technology and unmatched accuracy give me the confidence to keep my focus on performing my absolute best. I am proud to partner with Omega here in Vancouver and help celebrate the brand’s rich Olympic history,” Ohno said in a statement. “It is an absolute honor to receive their support and be part of a brand that means so much to the Olympic Movement.”

To celebrate his relationship with the brand, Ohno will visit the recently-opened Omega Boutique in Vancouver for a special appearance following his performance at the Games.
