Since 1992 the well-known company Montblanc has been creating and presenting writing instruments within the Patron of the Art Edition. Eah new line of elegant luxury pens is dedicated to one famous and great patron of arts. This time Montblanc pays tribute to the patroness of culture and arts owing to whom English Renaissance flourished – the Queen Elisabeth I. The writing instruments from the Patron of the Art Edition are highly appreciated by collectors all over the world. They are presented to laureates and members of the jury of the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award.

The design of the Patron of Art Edition Elizabeth I series symbolize the life, governing and heraldic regalia of the Queen. The 18K gold pen features a manually made engraving of the crown that was on the Queens head on the day of her coronation in 1559. Precious rosin on the case and cap symbolize the ermine fur of the Queens mantle – the traditional coronation outfit. The cap is crowned by the Montblanc logo of ivory colour and the fastener comes down from the Tudor’s Rose engraved at the upper part of the cap. This image of double rose became the floral symbol of England after the King Henry VII claimed it to be the symbol of the Tudor dynasty. The green cabochon on the clip is placed at the golden cross, which embellishes the cap, and reminds the cross inlayed with gemstones decorating the crown. The elegant interlaced pattern, created by the Queen Elisabeth I for the cover of the prayer book that in 1544 she gave as a present to her stepmother Catherine Parr, decorates the upper part of the cap and case of the unique pen. The gilded ring of the cap shows engraving “Video et Taceo” – “I see and stay silent”. This saying reflects Elisabeth’s I moderate political views and cautious approach to international affairs.

The case and the cap of one more pen from the collection Patron of Art Edition Elizabeth I with a golden pen are made of precious rosin. The 18K gold pen shown manually made engraving of the crown. The top of the cap is decorated with the mother-of-pearl logo of Montblanc. The fastener is decorated with a green princess-cut garnet.
