If working with Photoshop you experiment with overlay of layers, cross the alpha-canals and regulate the transparency with the help of masks – then the new watch by Harry Winston is something you will appreciate. The new Harry Winston watch boasts an in-house manually wound movement comprising 340 parts organized at 18 levels. And the partially skeletonized dial of the Harry Winston Project Z6 watch is an asymmetrical, multi-layer composition consisting of overlaid and crossing indicators. What is more the timepiece boasts 5 different types of finishing.
The Project Z collection was launched in 2004. The original limited edition series aims at combining the latest technology with the historic heritage. But in this context we should remember that the collection is actually a part of the Ocean Collection that demonstrates combination of sports and high-end technology. The traditional material for the Ocean Collection is Zalium (the unique alloy created by Ronald Winston specially for the manufactory of Harry Winston). Zalium is created on the basis of zirconium. It is more durable that titanium, and as hypoallergenic and anti-corrosive as ceramics.
So the 44-mm case of the new Project Z6 is made of Zalium. The new version of timepiece is produced in a limited edition of 350 pieces: 250 watches with an anthracite dial and 50 – with a silvery one. The Project Z6 brings a new complication to the collection: a 24-hour alarm on a hand-wound movement specially developed for this timepiece and exclusive to Harry Winston. Adjusted by the crown, the striking-mechanism for the alarm is activated by a trigger at 4 o’clock. The hammer, which is fixed to the case, can be admired through an opening on the dial, while the solid rectangular gong produces optimal resonance. Thanks to its two barrels – one for the movement, the other for the striking-mechanism – Project Z6 has a 72-hour power reserve.
The dial of the alarm overlaps the main dial with guilloched center, Arabic indicies of hours and hours, minutes and seconds hands. The dial is protected with sapphire crystal. The timepiece is secured on the wrist with a black rubber strap equipped with a Zalium buckle.
