The new Haute Horlogerie timepiece by Clerc - the Odyssey- is a watch with impressive complications and design inspired by space research and exploration. The Odyssey combines the latest watchmaking trends with the finest traditions of watchmaking dating back to 1874.
The 44-mm case features a complicated material structure. It uses such high tech materials as titanium, ceramics, carbon, 18K rose gold and palladium. The Odyssey watch is notable for a special device which protects the crown, push-pieces and interior rotating bezel system. The watch is 100 meters water resistant.
The movement of the Odyssey is the manufactory-made automatic double-barrel C200 calibre with 45 jewels. The movement oscillates at 28,800 bph providing 120 hours of power reserve. It also features Cotes de Geneve decorated bridges, blued screws and black PVD rotor. Together with traditional hours, minutes and seconds the movement provides such functions as retrograde date between 1 and 4 o’clock and 5-day power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock.
The complex multi-level dial is protected with sapphire crystal. The new Odyssey watch goes together with a vulcanized rubber or alligator leather strap with folding clasp.
The new Clerc timepiece is going to be revealed at BaseWorld Watch and Jewellery Show 2009.
