Passion for precision and ideal embodiment of sporty spirit are the very things that bound the Certina brand with timekeeping in the most extreme circumstances for ever. This resoluteness and creative drive are reflected is a new line DS Furious, presented in a harsh sporty style.

New DC Furious is in fact a retrospect male chronograph that attracts attention for its extremely youth looks. The case with satin finished surface is equipped with a black PVD-covered bezel; and the dial is made of carbonaceous fiber and resembles in its looks a control panel of a motorbike. The chronograph’s hands are moving in usual and reverse directions and fix at «0» after the reading is over. 30-seconds’ indication takes place at the 180°-arc scale anticlockwise, and 5-minutes’ indication – at a separate 120°-semicircular scale. There is also a 60-minutes’ counter that looks like a 144 °-graduated scale with a clockwise reading direction. The crown with a bright orange rubber button is protected by two durable lugs at the case. Two chronograph buttons are PVD-covered at the sides for visual harmony.

The watch is supplemented with a black rubber strap and aims at always young sportsmen interested in extreme sports and preferring active way of life. The range of DS Furious models includes watches to meet every taste: with black or silver-grey dials, with blue chronograph counters and with steel bracelets. There is also a model with three hands.

A Swiss bank Julius Baer has instituted a grant that will allow a talented young watchmaker to spend a whole year perfecting his mastery. Julius Baer grant makes up 20 000 Swiss franks. This sum is sufficient to defray expenses for studies and accommodation allowing to a young watchmaker to develop his skills working under the guidance of experienced masters or undergoing training in some company.

The grants will be handed on September 18, 2008, in La Chaux-de Fonds, Switzerland, at the 14th Prix Gaia ceremony (one of the most important technology award in the watchmaking industry).

“Our bank has always been known for its accuracy, attention to innovations and respect for traditions”, - Julius Baer claimed. - “The world famous Swiss watch craftsmanship is based on the same principles. What is more for many years our bank has supported young Swiss painters and we know how important the support is in the first years of creative work, how it help to show all the magnificence of a young talent.”

The Bank has already sent a request to the educational institutions to find the most talented graduates who are finishing their studies this year. The candidates should sent back their projects by July 31, 2008. The results of the contest will be announced by a commission consisting of the Bank representatives and the leading watch industry experts.

The House of DeWitt belonging to a narrow circle of prestigious watch companies has always strived for accentuating its originality in everything. This year DeWitt counts on its new model Night Chronograph Academia in whose design the day and night theme is played up. An original design and high functionality the watch has inherited from the Chronographe Sequentiel Academia notable for its outstanding character and also for the successive seconds counting system. These traits are characteristic of the new model as well. Having preserved the aesthetic design of its predecessor Night Chronographe provides ideal readings at night too. The dial of the watch, that is manufactured in two versions, is covered with the luminescent Superluminova of white color and – that is rather original – dark, almost black color. Besides Night Chronographe is made of noble metals, while the Chronographe Sequentiel combines rose gold, titanium and rubber in its design.

The new model features the case made of white and rose gold with rubber insertions. The minute and second counters and the inner scale of the dial, painted in black, are covered with white luminescent covering. The watch is supplemented with a rubber strap with an unfolding fastener made of 18-karat gold.
