January 31, 2008

Perrelet has launched the production of a new Titanium collection of watches. Among them the there is the company’s leader - Double Rotor. The traditional style of Perrelet is reflected in rhombic indices at the dial and high professional treatment of the mechanism. The watch also features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with 6 layers of non-reflective treatment on both sides. The case is 43.5 x 13.6 mm in size and is made of solid titanium. Tourbillon Gravity by Concord

CONCORD has announced the list of novelties that it has prepared for Baselworld 2008. Among them the leader of the company’s designs – a watch with an upright-placed tourbillon knot. The world-first C1 Tourbillon Gravity will be an invitation to ponder the history of time, while simultaneously propelling CONCORD into the modern age of innovation and a firmly futuristic approach. This timepiece will be equipped with a unique and complex movement basement on an orthogonal mechanical concept.
The tourbillon can be seen trough the side aperture at the case. Its vertical position enables it to compensate for the effects of gravity in a vertical position. But CONCORD’s creativity does not stop here. The designers hinted that this unusual tourbillon is not the only complication of the new C1 Tourbillon Gravity.

Alfred Dunhill Watches
Alfred Dunhill company started in 1893 in London. It was the first company that produced accessories for the first drivers. In 1903 Dunhill produced its first watch for motorists: it was not a wristwatch but a panel watch that was waterproof. But in course of time Alfred Dunhill company began to produce very stylish wristwatches that featured a lot of useful functions: for example chronograph Motoring Watch or Motor Cycle Watch Ns 895 with a folding dial cover. The range of watches was very wide: the customers could choose among the watches of any shape.
In 2003 the company began to work together with a well-know haute horlogerie expert Tom Bolt. This union resulted in the rebirth of the company’s watch line: under Bolt’s guidance new original collections of watches were created and each of these collections reflects the spirit of innovation that has been characteristic for Alfred Dunhill since its foundation. Bolt continued to create special watches for motorists. Among the most successful models are designer CarWatch, WheelWatch and PetrolHead, classical-sporty CityTamer, CityDrifter, CityFighter, chronograph BobbyFinder, and a women model Parody Rose. Each watch has a peculiarity of its own: delicate english nobility of style and extreme functionality.

CarWatch (based on automatic caliber ЕТА 2824-2) in an original case made of rose gold and ceramics resemble an automobile of the 1950-60s. At the ceramic bezel there is a place for a golden plate on which one can engrave the car’s number. Automatic steel chronograph BobbyFinder SP30 with a patented shutter fro the chronograph’s buttons is made in red and black. This watch is especially notable for stylish additional dials.
Tom Bolt’s favourite model is City Tamer. It is based on an automatic caliber ЕТА2824-2. The watch is available in rose and white gold or in steel. In a golden version the hand are made of multicolored gold. Cut sapphire glass resembles the outlines of the first Rolls-Royce’s headlights.

Concept Watch
Something is changing in the world of watchmaking. In all times conservation of traditions was considered to be the basis for watch production. Every second advertising says: “We have been making watches since…” But in the past few years several companies has produced so called concept watches that are not oriented to past traditions but to the future. Besides concept watches were produced not only by Japanese innovators but also but conservative Swiss.
Among all the concept models Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept is probably the most ordinary and unusual at the same time. Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept preserves all the traditional features: mechanism, tourbillon, manual winding, and skeleton. But at the same time everything is different. Gold was replaced by other materials. The traditional octagonal case is made of the newest alloy of cobalt, chrome, tungsten, iron, silicon and carbon that is called Alacrit-602. This alloy is twice as durable as the most durable steel. Owing to eight alacrit screws fixing the case of the Royal Oak Concept water resistance of the watch is 500 meters. This skeleton watch is absolutely different from the the traditional models. The tourbillon of the watch is the first tourbillon with heightened shock resistance. Its fastening does not look like golden or platinum letters: it is a functional absorbing bellows. Time indices are made in a traditional way, but a power reserve indicator is upright, as in thermometer. What is more Royal Oak Concept features a unique mechanism – dynamograph. In fact this is an analogue of a self-diagnosing system: the dynamograph reflects the intensity of the balance rotating moment, a very important parameter that defines technical state of the watch and its accuracy in the given moment of time.
