Oris Sudoku watch
December 27, 2007

Sudoku watch by Oris has become a true gift to watch connoisseurs and collectors. The watch replenishes the unique limited series of mechanical watches Oris Leonhard Euler, created in honor of 300-years anniversary of well-known mathematician Leonard Euler.
The Sudoku line is 1707 copies limited. Each watch has individual number which corresponds to Euler’ year of a birth. On a back cover of the case Euler’s portrait is engraved. The square case reminds of the Latin squares opened by it, a puzzle owing to which sudoku game appeared. For this reason the dial of watch is executed in sudoku style - so popular digital puzzle. The image finishes with an elegant leather strap.
The watch is in stainless case and has an automatic mechanism, which is concealed under a black dial of sudoku style. Graceful arrows, carefully protected by sapphire glass with an internal clarifying covering, make this watch look smart and really elegant.

Orient Watches
Some 50 years ago in Tokyo a company Tama Equipment Co was established. This new firm began to win the world watch market and after a year it was renamed to Orient Watch Co Ltd.
Ten years later (not a very big term for the development of a brand) the company managed to become the second in the list of Tokyo stock exchange. At the same time Orient was opening its affiliates all over the world: in Hong Kong, Brasilia, Beijing and so on.
Orient mechanisms are considered to be the most reliable ones. But the watches durability is connected not only with the mechanism but also with watch exterior preservation. Most models are made of stainless steel and their specifications and covering putting technology guarantee watch exterior invariability for several years.
Orient is the company with 50 years experience. It is one of the biggest watch manufacturers in Japan, whose products are notable for original design, high quality and reasonable prices. Now Orient pays a lot of attention to the development of women collections which include really elegant and extremely feminine timepieces for women. The most popular and successful collections are Lady Rose, Jewelry for Lady, Lady Original, Lady Elegance and much more.
The watches from Orient men collections are notable for functionality and practicalness. These timepieces are extremely durable and reliable as well as elegant and stylish. The most successful Orient men collections are Three Stars, Auto Skeleton, Classics, Auto-Rolex-Gent, Light Power and others.

Osvaldo Patrizzi Leaves Antiquorum
The founder of Antiquorum Auctioneers Osvaldo Patrizzi has left his position of chairman and leader of auction house. Specializing in presentation of wristwatches Patrizzi managed to broaden his business from auctions in small Swiss hotels in 1980s to an international auction house with centers in New York, Hong Kong, Tokio, Milan and other big cities.
In 2005 Patrizzi sold 50 % of Antiquorum share to Japanese group and now he has left his position because of difficulties and arguments with the shareholder about further development of the auction house.
John Tsukaharu, a major figure in Japanese entertainment industry, is likely to be appointed president of Antiquorum. But Patrizzi’s inborn ability to understand and feel the needs of collectors and industry key players will be a great loss for “new” Antiquorum.

Maria-Antoinette’s Watch will be Made Public in 2008
A unique collection of 100 pocket and interior watches that was stolen in 1983 was restored to L.A. Meyer Islamic Art Museum in Jerusalem practically safe and sound. This collection includes very rare examples of watch art of 17th and 19th centuries. It was collected by Sir David Salomons, the first Jew-mayor of London (1855). His daughter, Vera Salomons, passed the collection to the museum, whose founder was her university teacher. But 24 years later the collection was stolen under mysterious circumstances.
In 2006 some watchmaker contacted the museum as he was asked by an english lady to evaluate a watch collection of her late husband. And the watchmaker has recognized the stolen masterpieces. After a year of negotiations with the lady’s lawyer the collection was restored in exchange for symbolic compensation and under the condition of complete anonymity.
The museum staff says that some exhibits are still missing, and from some precious stones and golden elements were removed. Five watches are impossible to repair, and 4 more were broken but they still can be repaired.
Fortunately the most precious exhibits are not damaged. For example the legendary watch that Avraam-Louis Brege was making for Maria-Antoinette is in perfect condition. Now the collection is being prepared for the exhibition in 2008.

Harry Winston Excenter Tourbillon
December 26, 2007
This is the first tourbillon by Harry Winston that doesn’t refer to the Opus line but to Excenter collection. It was made for the King of diamonds by a talented Englishman Peter Spick-Marin. The Harry Winston Excenter Tourbillon is equipped with manual winding, two winding barrels and a double retrograde power reserve indicator (100 hours) which is situated at the back side of the case. But the main wonder is a unique barrel spring energy reserve indicator. When there is less than 25 minutes left before the cutoff of the watch, the brand logo HW placed at the 6 o’clock becomes bright blue. How it is done? This is the company’s secret.
The tourbillon carriage rotation system is located not round the carriage but inside it and this guarantees shock resistance and move stability to the watch. Traditional red rubies are replaced by blue corundums, and the diamond in the centre of the tourbillon is so bright, that it illuminates the dial in the darkness even better than some luminescent substances.
The case has 40 mm in diameter and is made of platinum with diamonds or of rose gold (18 carat). The watch is equipped with sapphire glass and a back cover with double high gloss covering. The dial is made of ruthenium and the hands and the hour and minute scale are made of polished white gold. The mechanism is HW400 tourbillon with manual winding. Power reserve is 110 hours. The bridges and platinums are manually decorated. The watch is 30 m water resistant and is available with a crocodile leather strap with a platinum fastener or with a rose gold bracelet.
