The Swiss watchmaking company Raymond Weil has sued the famous actress Charlize Theron. 31 year-old Hollywood star who is a face of Raymond Weil’s advertising campaign, is accused of breach of contract.
According to the writ, under contract to the watch firm, “for a great fee“, Charlize Theron had to wear only this watch brand from October 2005 till December 2006. However the actress made an advertising contract with the company Christian Dior, and in March 2006 she appeared at a press conference of the Festival in Austin (Texas) wearing a Christian Dior watch.
Moreover, the Swiss watchmakers state, that by the terms of the contract Charlize Theron was not allowed to appear in advertising of any jewelry ware, even if it was charity. However, from February till December 2006 the photo of Charlize wearing a necklace was used in an advertising campaign benefiting an AIDS.
It is unknown how much Raymond Weil will seek in damages, but according to its attorney, the company spent 20 million dollars on the advertising campaign with Charlize Theron.
