The world premiere of the extraordinary Jules Verne Instrument by Louis Moinet dedicated to the outstanding French writer Jules Verne took place on February 11, 2010, in the Maison d’Ailleurs Science Fiction Museum in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland.

Although it can be said that the attention of the guests was attracted first of all by the original box that housed the wonderful novelties by Louis Moinet. The first model of the box called Vernoscope was presented to the museum and replenished the museum’s Espace Jules Verne collection that includes more than 20,000 objects that are directly connected with the life and work of the famous writes and inventor Jules Verne.
The unusual box is the invention of a former Louis Moinet employee – Jean-Yves Kervevan. The square (50 х 50 cm) mahogany box has four apertures for storing the watches. The box looks very rich and is sophisticatedly decorated by hand with tiny parts of the Moon meteors.

It should be said that the box makes a wonderful companion for the novelties by Louis Moinet. All the 4 watches storeys in the box are worthy of the closest attention. Jules Verne Instrument 1 and Jules Verne Instrument 2 are powered by a self-winding movement with 25 and 30 jewels respectively. Balance frequency is 28,800 bph while power reserve makes up 44 hours. The movement animates the functions of hours, minute, seconds, chronograph, date at 3 o’clock, GMT at 9 o’clock (model 1) and split-chronograph (model 2).
The case is made of titanium or 316L stainless steel or 18К rose gold and contains parts of the moon meteor. The size of the case is 46.3 х 54 mm and its thickness is 14.5 mm. The dial shows chronograph 60-seconds, 30-minutes and 12-hours counters in the centre and at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively. The hands are made of blued steel. The dial is decorated with the Cotes du Jura pattern and is shielded with anti-reflection sapphire crystal. Water resistance is 50 meters.
The watches are completed with crocodile leather straps with carbon insertions. They are fitted with Louis Moinet proprietary clasp made of 316L stainless steel. The collection is limited to 60 copies with black and silvery dials (both models) and to 12 pieces with “havana” dial (model 1) and to 12 copies with blue dial (model 2).
