Over a century ago, watchmaker Paul Wyler embarked upon a quest to design watches that were optimized for the rigors of everyday use. After 10 years in operation, the Wyler watch company joined forces with Milanese entrepreneur Innocente Binda to market its products. Combining Wyler’s engineering genius with Binda’s entrepreneurial flair, Wyler timepieces had become a household name in Binda’s home market within a few years.
Throughout its history, the Wyler watch company has upheld a commitment to producing innovative, yet reliable and sturdy timepieces in continuation of its founder’s original mission.
Avoiding staid watchmaking clichés, Wyler Genève prefers to be judged on its products and its actions. Its history is littered with examples of a daring approach to watchmaking, for example in pioneering anti-shock technologies and then jettisoning them from a height of 300 feet to prove their effectiveness.
As classic and contemporary watches go hand-in-hand with the mechanics of classic and performance cars, Wyler Genève unashamedly alludes to this theme both in the design of its timepieces and its partnerships. Its unique shock-absorbing case recalls the suspension of a car, whilst more subtle details on the watch also have a distinct car-inspired theme. The brand’s automotive associations include the Paris-Beijing anniversary, an exclusive design partnership with Italy’s Atelier Zagato and a partnership with the St. Moritz Automobile Club.
Wyler Genève has asserted its environmental awareness by becoming the first Carbon Neutral watch company and aims to maintain a consistent approach to environmental protection in all its activities as well as to instill a similar mindset among its suppliers and partners.
