The history of founding, development and revival of Bovet brand is typical for many Swiss watch brands and at the same time it is original and distinctive. Everything started with the family manufactory Bovet Brothers and Co founded in 1820 in Canton, China. 1840 is considered to be the birth date of the brand Bovet. At that time Edward Bovet returned to his native town in Switzerland. And 1997 is the year of the brand’s revival when it restarted to produce watches after 65 years of oblivion.
Like a magic Phoenix the brand rose from the ashes and at once became notable for its unusual watches with a winder in the 12 o’clock and dials covered with transparent enamel and decorated with diminutive paintings. Bovet Watches revived owing to the Swiss best craftsmen, watch designers and miniaturists. The production was reconstructed on the basis of manufactories of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The movements of the watches are manually assembled at the famous manufactory Claret. Mounting is entrusted to the best engravers, miniaturists and enamellers. For a very short time contemporary Bovet has gained the reputation of a producer of the most complicated models of watches that feature high technical quality and appropriate aesthetic realization. Bovet has all the characteristics of a modern luxury watchmaker: recognizable appearance and possibilities to realize practically any technical idea.
Among the watches by Bovet there are several unique complicated watches as engraved tourbillon, minute repeater, a watch with a perpetual calendar and wonderfully mounted moon phase indicator, and also a model with a “Jumping Hour” function. Today nearly 60% of Bovet watches can be called exclusive. The head of the company Mr. Pascal Raffy says: “Bovet has become a vectorial brand that sooner or later all Swiss watch manufacturers will follow. As a real connoisseur always prefers a masterpiece to a mass production watch”.
